Jake the dog lost his eyesight, but he managed to adapt to his new life thanks to his fellow dog Addie. Addie has naturally taken on the role of guide, providing him with daily guidance and reassurance whenever he needs it.

Bored Panda is a wonderful story of friendship between a blind dog and a dog who guides and comforts him.

At the age of 2, Jake the Golden Retriever gradually lost his visual abilities until he became totally blind. However, his family had spared no effort to try to protect him from this. Despite treatments and several operations, Jake's eyes were causing him terrible suffering and were becoming less and less functional. According to the veterinarians, they had to be removed or the animal euthanized. Both choices were extremely cruel, but the first was the best alternative. The decision was therefore taken to operate.

After the intervention, Jake gradually adapted to his new condition. To help him, he was able to count on Addie, also a Golden Retriever. Both dogs had been adopted by Kim and her husband after the deaths of Molly and Wrigley, who belonged to the same breed. Jake was very close to Wrigley and his disappearance had affected him enormously. Addie was already there to help him through his grief.
So it was the most natural thing in the world for her to act as a guide for Jake when he had to face blindness. Today, he leads an almost normal life thanks to her. He relies on his friend's smell and the sound of the bell she wears on her necklace to find his way around.

Together, they spend their days playing, sleeping and making discoveries. Their owners take them everywhere they go, especially on their road-trips, and the dog couple makes the most of it.
While delivering this story to Bored Panda, Kim expressed her gratitude to all the owners of blind dogs who had contacted her to tell her about their experiences and to explain that these animals had a tremendous capacity for adaptation. They had promised her that Jake would be fine, as long as he was well looked after. And that is exactly what happened, thanks in large part to Addie.
